Bracknell: Coppid Beech unveils new GM

17 Jun 2010

Experienced hotelier Andrew Oxley returns to Thames Valley.

Thames Valley hospitality veteran and Warfield resident Andrew Oxley has been appointed as the general manager of The Coppid Beech hotel.

Oxley – an experienced and charismatic hotelier – started his career in hospitality at Hartwell House in Aylesbury. Since then he has run Tylney Hall, Rudding Park and Oakley Court. In 2009 he was poached from the prestigious Bath Spa Hotel and lured back to the Thames Valley by the offer of the lead role at the Binfield based hotel.

It was the sheer variety of the role and the uniqueness of the hotel’s offering that attracted Oxley, 34, to the local landmark:

“The Coppid Beech is so much more than a hotel. It’s like running eight different businesses under one roof.”

As well as 205 bedrooms, the chalet-style hotel is home to three restaurants and bars, a health club (Waves), a dedicated meeting and conference facility, a live music venue (The Keller) and a night club (Après).

It’s equally true that location is everything to Oxley. With his family based in Warfield, and his step children attending local schools – Ranelagh and Whitegrove – working for a privately owned hotel in his local community is very appealing to him.

The Coppid Beech is a flourishing business and conference venue and a favourite of HP, Cable and Wireless, Towry Law and Dell among others. Oxley, who is very much part of the local community, is keen for locals to see it as their place too.
