A Slough teambuilding and training provider has diversified its services in response to the economic slowdown and is now set to capitalise on new business opportunities after receiving funding support from Lloyds TSB Commercial.
Established in 2001, Bluehat UK provides corporate training courses and team building events for companies including Unilever, Capgemini and the Co-operative Financial Services.
Over the past 18 months, the company has adapted its product range to reflect the changing market, moving towards integral services that help businesses communicate with and motivate their employees more effectively.
To support this move, the firm approached its banking partner, Lloyds TSB Commercial, for funding to increase its sales and marketing function at a time when other businesses in the industry were cutting back.
This investment has enabled the company to increase market share and prepare for strong growth as the economic climate improves, forming part of the company’s long-term goals.
The firm is now seeing a 30% rise in trading compared to the same period last year, as an increasing number of companies are investing in training to boost the confidence of their employees.
Tim Shepley, managing director of Bluehat UK, said: “The economic slowdown has put pressure on many companies in our sector, so we’ve responded by adapting our services and working even harder to secure new business.
“By improving our offering, we’re now able to capitalise on the opportunities created by the changed economy and resulting shifts in customer demand.
“Having the backing of a supportive banking partner such as Lloyds TSB Commercial was essential, as the bank provided invaluable guidance and funding as we reacted to the changing market and repositioned our offering.
"The Italian Job team building event is very popular for motivating and rewarding teams because it's such good fun. At the same time, teams plan together and manage their time to succeed at their challenge just like in the business world. It's a great analogy for the journey that employees are on at the moment in the rapidly changing economic climate.”
Peter Jackson, relationship manager for Lloyds TSB Commercial, said: “Bluehat UK is a great example of an innovative and forward-thinking company that has refocused its services and increased its marketing reach to build new partnerships with leading blue-chip companies.
“As part of this proactive approach, management drew on the guidance and expertise of its professional support network, ensuring it was in a strong position to quickly utilise the advice and resources available.
“We look forward to supporting Tim and the team as they work towards the company’s long-term growth plans.”
