With Business Secretary Vince Cable highlighting the importance of Asia to British business and how the UK Government will help to promote opportunities in these markets, UK Trade & Investment South East is staging a seminar on trading in China and Hong Kong.
The “Doing Business in China and Hong Kong” half-day seminar will be held at the Village Hotel, Farnborough, Hampshire, on Wednesday, July 7.
Vince Cable said: “Asia is driving the global recovery and its growing middle classes are seeking more of what we can produce. We want UK businesses to export more goods and services to these markets. Through UK Trade & Investment, we will help British companies to play their full part.”
Hong Kong is a dynamic and accessible market, and UK companies are well placed to take advantage of the opportunities in multiple industry sectors. It is also a potential stepping stone for those considering targeting mainland China.
The prospects for business in China itself extend beyond the familiar locations of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen into numerous emerging regional centres.
The UKTI seminar will offer valuable information and guidance for British companies wishing to update themselves on these dynamic markets and learn about the support available to help them expand there.
Contributing specialists include:
• Ralph Rogers, China Business Adviser, China-Britain Business Council; and
• David Marsden, Director, UK, Benelux & Ireland, Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
Delegates will have the added benefit of the most up-to-date insight and intelligence on the Chinese market from UKTI South East’s China Business specialist, Chris Lowsley.
Lowsley will come to the seminar fresh from attending the UKTI-led Advanced Engineering Showcase in Shanghai on June 23 and 24, at which 13 top UK companies will be demonstrating their expertise. The showcase is one of a series for key UK industries taking place in Shanghai at the same time as the vast Shanghai Expo, which runs until October 31.
The seminar will also offer:
• an interactive, case-study based, workshop session;
• a Q&A session with the speakers;
• optional one-to-one meetings with the speakers and UKTI’s Chris Lowsley;
• and a chance to sign up for the UKTI Market Visit to China in late November 2010, which will take in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
To avoid disappointment, companies should register for the China/Hong Kong seminar as soon as possible by contacting the UKTI South East events team on 08452-717400.
