MR Brokers Holdings has been formed as an associated company to established insurance and financial services specialists MRIB, based in High Wycombe, to acquire insurance broker JN Dobbin plc.
Moorcrofts LLP represented MR Brokers Holdings on the legal and due diligence issues, Haines Watts performed the accounting due diligence and Clydesdale Bank arranged support funding for the transaction.
Teri Hunter, who led the Moorcrofts team, said: “Dobbin is an established brand in insurance broking, and we expect our clients to capitalise on this and their own excellent reputation in the marketplace to create a highly profitable group going forward. Despite what has essentially been a financial services led recession, our clients have seen steady growth over the last few years and feel confident that this is a good time to expand their current operations in preparation for further growth going forward.”
The five-strong team from Moorcrofts consisted of Teri Hunter and Will Hamill who handled the corporate aspects of the transaction, Daniel Hopkin who advised on a number of commercial and contract issues, Craig Havard who advised on employment issues and Andrew Hardcastle who handled the property aspects.
Moorcrofts is a young firm in the Thames Valley providing specialised legal advice for corporate transactions, channel-to market, TMT and human resources to businesses. Teri Hunter describes Moorcrofts as “a small but specialised and dynamic team,” and added, “we pride ourselves on becoming an integral part of the businesses we advise.”
Edward Finch managing director of both MRIB and MR Brokers Holdings commented on Moorcrofts: “All the team members are personable, approachable and extremely professional. They carried out a thorough and efficient job, and we look forward to working with them again, both in respect of our day-to-day legal matters and possible future acquisitions.”
